With lots of time at home, and Tim not working, we have spent a whole lot of time purging and organizing around here. About 90% of the upstairs is done, but this week we started working on the storeroom. I’m not sure how to post a video on the blog so I can’t share the “before” I filmed yesterday, however, we made progress! *I think I figured out the video... if it works, you’ll see it at the end of the post.
The boxes, bags, and bins in the pic all contain items that are leaving my house one way or another. There will be a lot of clothing handed down for grandbabies, so that makes me happy. We also plan to have another 50¢ sale this fall before donating. Yesterday we reduced the number of bins containing clothing from 16 to 11!! We also got rid of several additional miscellaneous boxes and bags of clothing that were in the room. Two of the remaining bins contain school uniforms. Can’t leave those in the kids drawers during the summer... they need to survive for the school year! ;) Every kid has a bin containing clothes they’ll grow into or use the next season. Well, except Ki. He doesn’t outgrow his clothes! LOL I am looking forward to the end of this project! I realize we have a larger than average population here, but it’s unreal how much we’ve accumulated— and how much is left even after purging! Feels good to get it done though!

Like any almost two year old, Hezekiah makes it difficult to get a good pic... but every attempt is adorable! 😊
Happy 4th of July! 🇺🇸 Pray for our country. Today we celebrate hard-won freedoms, but we seem to be losing more every day. And while that is concerning, we do not need to fear! God is in control and He wins, every time! We were so happy to be discharged today. Before we could even begin the trip home we had to do an emergency trach change in the parking ramp. Then he wasn’t really liking being put back on the vent for whatever reason, so his nurse bagged him most of the way home.
Thankfully he settled in quite well once we got home. He is so happy to be with everyone in a familiar setting — and no one has masks or shields! Once home we discovered that the trach we removed had a significant plug. Still not sure why he didn’t want to be on the travel vent, but he is fine on his home vent. Praise the Lord! We feel so blessed to have our boy with us, and happy and healthy! This morning I have so much to be grateful for, not the least of which is Hezekiah.
Shunt revision (or possible replacement) is underway. Enjoy the cute expressions I caught before they took him back for surgery. :)
I began this post yesterday evening while still in the ED, but encountered some technical difficulties. We waited for a LONG time in the ED before finally being admitted to the floor last night. He had a very rough time settling in. It was after 1 am before I felt comfortable going to sleep. (
It was determined that he is in need of a shunt revision, so I am very thankful I listened to that little nudge that said all was not well. I don’t have a time yet, but was told yesterday surgery would be sometime after 2pm today. We will need to stay at least one day beyond surgery for observation. I am hoping to be home by Saturday, but we will just have to wait and see. I came prepared for an overnight visit “just in case”. That won’t quite cut it! Lol As a side note, his Covid test came back negative. Pray for a smooth and uneventful surgery today. Pray for me as I am sore and tired. Pray for the kids at home that they wouldn’t be fearful. Pray for Tim as he handles things at home while Ki and I are here. Heading to St. Paul tomorrow for some testing. These are scans that were cancelled when the shutdown first began. We are making a special trip for the scans and a visit with neurosurgery since discovering a small fluid bulge yesterday near the base of Ki’s skull, in close relation to both his shunt and the area of decompression. Additionally, he’s been a bit out of sorts the last couple of days and recently began running a low-grade temp. His fontanel which has been quite bulgy for months is firmer than it typically is, and over the course of the last couple of months has stayed more full than usual.
Thankful that Tim will be available to tag along, and that we have one of our most familiar nurses for the day. |
